The use of energy storage devices is essential for the development and maintenance of zero-energy structures. They are necessary for optimal usage of renewable energy sources and for managing the intermittent nature of energy supply and demand. Many different types of storage systems (electrochemical, thermal, mechanical, etc.) are either commercially available or close to being developed for usage on a building scale. Different technologies have different capabilities and features, therefore it's important to find a system for evaluating your possibilities before diving into a techno-economic study. All aspects of current and emerging energy storage technologies, as well as their uses, future prospects, and historical contexts, are subjected to a rigorous evaluation. Energy storage techniques such as electrochemical and battery storage, thermal storage, thermochemical storage, flywheel storage, compressed air storage, pumped storage, magnetic storage, chemical and hydrogen storage, and redox flow storage are all covered. New studies on alternative energy storage methods, along with major advancements and discoveries in the field, are also discussed.
The nonlinear effect in the control system is so important and it may have a hard or soft effect on the electrical, mechanical, biological, and many other systems. This paper analyzes the describing function (DF) which is the transfer function of the nonlinear (NL) control systems of many NL elements found such as saturation, and backlash. The effect of the NL on the third-order delayed system is considered. The PID controller is considered the heart of the control system and continuously finds the error between input and output, and formulates the desired signal for the actuator to control the plant. Experimental tanning of PID controller with the saturation NL as a case study with buffer Operation Amplifier (Op-Amp) to maintain the gain and phase shift. In addition, a low pass filter (LPF) is used in the feedback to minimize and attenuate the effect of the NL in the closed-loop control system. The Fourier series is used to analyze the DF. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Advanced technology developments of the antenna find their place in wireless technology. The increased demand for Internet of Things (IoT) applications in the recent communication system has increased the demand for antennas due to their compatibility. The easy integration into IoT devices is the key benefit of the microstrip antenna. In this chapter, the selection criteria of the antenna are discussed with application in the Internet of Things. An antenna array is also designed considering the parameters for the application in IoT devices.
The antenna is a Modified Broadband Butterfly Antenna (MBBA). The technical parameters of such systems are heavily influenced by the qualities of the antenna feed devices. The aperture theory of antennas uses the representation of the radiation field of the antenna as a superposition of the fields of elementary sources, characterized by their type and amplitude-phase spatial distribution. The radiation field of an antenna of finite dimensions is a superposition of inhomogeneous spherical waves emitted by the antenna elements. This paper is primarily the study process, Radiation models were calculated using the model of the cavity plates, Simple Green model, and the strict commercial Electromagnetic Simulator. The modified active rectangular patches with the Gann diode were combined into arrays of E and H plane. Calculated and measured results for these two active arrays the beam scanning, the possibilities have been demonstrated for both arrays. The results of an electrodynamics numerical simulation were obtained. Broadband and multiband radio systems have already found widespread practical applications by utilizing basic antenna parameters and characteristics.
This paper presents a fully automated stand-alone irrigation system with GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) module. Solar energy is utilized to power the system and it is aimed to conserve water by reducing water losses. The system is based on a DC water pump that draws energy from solar panels along with automated water flow control using a moisture sensor. It is also fitted with alert and protection system that consists of an ultrasonic sensor and GSM messages sender that transmits signals showing the levels of the water in the reservoir and the battery charge. The control system is designed to stop the water pump from pumping water either when the battery level drops to equal or less than 10% of its full charge, or when the water level becomes less than 10 cm high in the reservoir. The experimental results revealed that the system is appropriate to use in remote areas with water scarcity and away from the national grid.
